     Medical IT Systems will encompass all operations of hospitals and practices in the next decade.  Will they be user friendly?  Will they be easy to learn?  Will they perform well?  Will they integrate with other systems old and future?

     If planned and implemented properly, this should be the case.  Unfortunately, there are many systems, developers and manufacturers that are all in a hurry to grab market share.  Guess what? Long term planning is not their forte.  

     The only way to avoid this problem is to have your own IT/Equipment consultants plan and guide the way.

EXAMPLE: A practice with to physicians may only need to spend $6-10K on an EMR than $50-100K  to run their practice efficiently. 

OR: An orthopedic practice may opt to go CR rather than DR and save $100k or more by utilizing there existing X-ray and integrating simple PACs.

OR:  Your hospital wants DR for the EMR and can save $100k by remanufacturing their portable rather than buying new and receiving a better warranty.
